UDOT to close northbound I-15 near Roy and Riverdale for one night

Concrete nightwork to occur on Friday, October 11

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) urges drivers to plan ahead for a full closure of northbound I-15 near the Roy and Riverdale exit this Friday, October 11, for nighttime bridge work for a new freeway interchange.

When complete, the new I-15 interchange at 5600 South in Roy will make it easier to get to and from Hill Air Force Base. The project is also widening 5600 South three to five lanes from I-15 to 3500 West.

Northbound I-15 will close Friday at 10 p.m., with one lane reopening at 5 a.m., and all lanes expected to be fully open by 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 12. During the closure, drivers will be diverted off the interstate onto exit 338 (5600 South Riverdale Road), and back onto I-15 via the northbound on-ramp.

As part of this project, UDOT is also adding new sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, and a new trail system for pedestrians and cyclists. These improvements will help area residents get around more easily, whether they are walking, biking or driving. Construction started in 2023 and is expected to continue through 2026.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

For the latest information on traffic restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website (udottraffic.utah.gov) or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android. Drivers can also follow UDOT on social media including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
