MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The following is a collection of events happening around Penn State Harrisburg next week.

Events

Paws and Unwind with the Susquehanna Service Dogs - 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Dec. 4, SEC Living Room. This event is designed to help students, faculty and staff de-stress and relax as the end of the fall semester nears, offering the opportunity to visit with certified service dogs, as well as a stress-relief station with items like coloring pages, guided breathing exercises, and other quick relaxation techniques. Presented by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Student Disability Resources (SDR).

Truist Empowered Entrepreneurs Fireside Chat - 6-8 p.m., Dec. 5, Library 101 Morrison Gallery. Join Truist Foundation and Harrisburg LaunchBox for a fireside chat with Nancy Aber Goshow and F. Eric Goshow, the founding partners of Goshow Architects. Learn how to turn startup dreams into reality, hear the Goshows' journey to build and expand, and learn tips about entrepreneurship. The event is part of the 2024-25 Truist Empowered Entrepreneurs Executive Series. Register here.

In-person exhibits (on-going)

"Always Aim High! An Exhibition Celebrating Shirley Chisholm" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. An exhibition celebrating Shirley Chisholm and featuring rare materials from the Alice Marshall Women's History Collection. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Chisholm was the first Black woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress in 1968 and the first Black woman to run for U.S. president in 1972. The exhibition was curated by Payton Becker, a doctoral student in American studies and graduate archives assistant at Hanes Library.

"Faces: Portraits of Students at Penn State Harrisburg" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. Presented by the School of Humanities in collaboration with the Madlyn L. Hanes Library.

"Driving, Designing, and Defying: Women Paving the Way in Automotive History" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library.

"Forty-Five Years After the Meltdown: Remembering the Accident at TMI in 2024" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. Please note: Viewing of the exhibition is by appointment only on weekdays (Monday - Wednesday). As availability of the archives is limited, visitors are encouraged to schedule a visit at least two weeks in advance of the requested date/time.
