1. Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?

Being involved in committee allows you to be involved in your local government and gives you a chance to share your voice and the voice of your community. It can give you direct influence over policies that impact your daily life.

2. What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?

As a social worker, one of our core values is advancing social justice. Advocating for equitable policies that impact those living in our community living with a criminal record is one of the main reasons I decided to join a committee. I believe change starts at the policy level!

3. What is your favorite part about living in Durham?

The history and the restaurants!
