Tuesday, Oct. 8 Georgia College & State University welcomes guest artist and pianist Silvan Negrutiu for "Sacred & Profane" at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall. Negrutiu is an associate professor in the Kitt School of Music at Northern Arizona University. According to Clipa Magazine: "Silvan Negrutiu displays a very special, rare quality: he knows how to build structures from sound, dislocating the air, eliminating emptiness, evil, and inoperable space." The concert will include Joan Tower's "Sixth Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman," Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in D Major, Op. 10, No. 3" and Constantin Silvestri's "Third Piano Suite, Op. 6, No. 1," as well as two pieces by Romanian composer George Enescu. This concert will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/GCMusicDepartment. A $5 donation is encouraged. Online donations can be made at give.gcsu.edu/g/department-of-music/. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email [email protected] or call 478-445-8289.
