USCG: Major Cyber Breach Reported in the Media

It's a spooky world for some malicious actors who never seem to let a good crises to waste in terms of sowing discord in our critical infrastructure.

The media today is reporting of a substantial breach on one of our nation's largest water treatment companies. Many of our mid-West cities are potentially affected by this breach. There is no indication at this time that water services will be interrupted to anyone, but sometimes these situations are difficult to predict.

We have also seen some different cyber issues affecting some towing operations. I am not aware of any of our companies being targeted on the Upper Mississippi/Illinois/Missouri basins, but I ask that all of you review your logs for any unusual activity and seeking out assistance as needed.

Be well. It looks like another rough week of weather for the Gulf Coast. These are the types of crises that bring out some of the worst malicious cyber events.

Thank you,
