Join Marquette Law School's Andrew Center for Restorative Justice for a conference titled "The Union of Restorative Justice, Healthcare, and Street Outreach: A Healing Approach to Preventing Gun Violence" on Thursday, Oct. 24, and Friday, Oct. 25.

The conference begins at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25.

Thursday includes a film premiere of "Mending Our Wounds: A Restorative Justice Circle for Gun Violence Healing and Prevention." Bear witness to survivors, healers, first responders, violence interrupters and peacemakers as they courageously share in circle their personal stories about how gun violence has impacted their lives and how they are inspiring crucial conversations about gun violence prevention. When restorative justice circles bring communities together in dialogue, we are destined to create stronger, safer communities.

Register online for Thursday and Friday's events.

Some of the topics to be covered include:

  • Gun Violence in Milwaukee: Using Data to Inform Policy, Guide Violence Prevention Work, and Increase Public Health and Safety
  • Hospital-Based Gun Violence Prevention: Promoting Healthier and Safer Communities through Community-centered, Trauma-informed, and Restorative Strategies
  • Street Outreach in Milwaukee: Tapping Restorative Practices and Community-engaged Interventions to Address Urban Gun Violence
