The Titusville Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team earned 5th place globally and is currently the best in Brevard County during the recent 2024 SWAT Round-Up competition in Orlando, Florida.
The 5-day event featured 50 SWAT teams worldwide competing against each other in a myriad of tactical events requiring strength, speed, stamina, firearm accuracy, situational awareness, along with mental fitness and acuity during stressful situations. Events included Tower Scramble, Pricher Scramble, Officer Rescue, Hostage Rescue and Obstacle Course.
The Titusville Police SWAT team is a specialty unit, and members vigorously trained and prepared for Round-Up months prior to the event.
This was the second year Titusville SWAT participated in the competition, outscoring teams who competed in this arena for over a decade.
"It was amazing to see the culture of our entire agency displayed by this team on an international stage", said SWAT Commander Mark Jennings. "Their hard work, dedication, physical fitness, team mentality and decision making got them where they are, and I could not be prouder of their performance", added Jennings.
