U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.4 Million for Water Infrastructure Improvements to Support Business Expansion and Job Creation in Moreno Valley, California

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.4 million grant to the city of Moreno Valley, California, for water infrastructure improvements to support business expansion and job creation in the region.

This grant will provide for a drainage system expansion project to support local businesses and create economic opportunity This EDA investment will be matched with $1.6 million in local funds and is expected to create three jobs and retain 480 jobs, according to grantee estimates.

"The Biden-Harris Administration's Investing in America agenda is ensuring that all communities have the resources and opportunities they need to compete and thrive in today's economy," said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. "This EDA investment will help the Moreno Valley community promote local business and job growth, making the regional economy more resilient and retaining hundreds of good jobs."

"The Economic Development Administration is proud to partner with local communities to support place-based economic growth," said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and External Affairs, performing the non-exclusive functions and duties of the Assistant Secretary for Economic Development Cristina Killingsworth. "This project will support business growth in Moreno Valley and enable the region to meet the growing domestic and global demands for goods produced in Riverside County."
