Congresswoman Betty McCollum Statement on Iranian Attack Against Israel

"Since the brutal October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel by Hamas, innocent civilians have paid the highest price of this conflict. I strongly condemn Iran's bombardment of Israel this morning. This dangerous escalation only increases tensions within the region. Sadly, a broader regional conflict between Israel, Iran, and their terrorist proxies across the Middle East was a predictable result of these hostilities. Israel has a right to defend itself. However, we are now witnessing how the military campaign of the last year has made Israelis and all civilians in the region less safe and more vulnerable than ever. That is why I have called for a regional ceasefire since October 17th of last year. I support President Biden's work to save innocent lives by securing an immediate regional ceasefire among all parties."
