Johnson Honors Gohn Family with the “Angels in Adoption” Award

"Adoption is an incredibly meaningful way to complete a family, but the Gohn family didn't stop there," said Johnson. "Their mentorship and assistance to other families looking to adopt has fostered another generation of adoption in South Dakota."

Steve and Kris have four grown children, all of whom are adopted. They have held tremendous relationships with their children's birth families, navigating the borders of birth and adoptive family in an impressive manner.

The Gohns have mentored other couples who have chosen adoption. At All About U Adoption in Sioux Falls, Kris works with mothers and families who are choosing adoption.

Each year, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) selects individuals, families or organizations across the nation who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of children in need of permanent, loving homes. Each family's tireless dedication to child welfare stands out in their community but earns them recognition as an extraordinary family deserving of this award.
