Minister Tajani’s mission to Argentina and Brazil kicks off. The agenda also includes the commemoration of the victims of 7 October and a video conference on the Middle East

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, has arrived in Argentina today for a mission that will also take him to Brazil.

Today Minister Tajani will take part in the ceremony organised by the local Jewish associations to commemorate the victims of the massacre of 7 October 2023 in Israel. He will also chair, by videoconference, a meeting with the Italian Ambassadors to Israel, the Lebanon and Iran and with the Consul General in Jerusalem, to take stock of the situation in the Middle East and of the actions taken to ensure the security of our compatriots, including the Italian soldiers of the UNIFIL mission on the border between Israel and the Lebanon.

Today's institutional programme also includes a system-wide meeting with all the Italian Ambassadors, the Directors of the Italian Trade Agency's offices (ITA) offices, and the Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes in Latin America. The Minister will then co-chair a round-table discussion of Italian and Argentinean entrepreneurs, with a focus on strengthening investment in the country and increasing trade. Minister Tajani said: "We must endeavour to strengthen our ties, also thanks to the renewed momentum that the Argentina's government wants to give to the country's economy and competitiveness."

In the framework of the "sports diplomacy" action, the Foreign Minister will sign a declaration of intent with Secretary Scioli on bilateral cooperation in sports diplomacy. Minister Tajani will also meet with Prime Minister Guillermo Francos, the Minister of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libarona and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Environment and Sport, Daniel Scioli.

A meeting with the President of the Republic of Argentina, Javier Gerardo Milei, is scheduled for tomorrow. On the same day, Minister Tajani will inaugurate the Italian Language Week in the World at the Italian School "Cristoforo Colombo", in the presence of students and teachers from all the Italian accredited private or officially recognized schools in Buenos Aires.
