Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine

City officials are closely monitoring potential tropical cyclone nine developing in the Caribbean Sea. The system is expected to intensify as it moves northward over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.

We caution residents to remain weather aware and begin making preparations. These preparations should include:

• Sign up for CodeRED emergency alerts.
• Closely following weather advisories from official channels such as the National Weather Service and FEMA.
• Have an emergency plan in place. Make sure all members in your household know and understand the plan.
• Know your evacuation zone in case you need to evacuate your home quickly.
• Begin gathering emergency supplies for your household. Don't forget to include medication, disinfectant supplies, and pet supplies.
• Document your home and any valuable belongings through photos and/or video.
• Check your insurance coverage and homeowners' policies.
• Bring in or secure items outdoors such as patio furniture, etc.
• If you or anyone in your home has functional access or medical needs and require assistance please apply for the Hurricane Registry with Coastal Health District.
