RALEIGH - Four new members will join the Campbell Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors in the new year, Assistant Dean of External Relations Megan Sherron '10has announced.
The new board members - Adrienne Blocker '98, the Honorable Jim Morgan '82 (retired), Grant Simpkins '19 and Jenifer Wolfe '13 - were voted on at the Alumni Association's annual meeting in October. They officially take office in January 2025 and will serve three-year terms on the board.
Along with the new board members, Keith Boyette '19 will serve as chair, Zack Anstett '18 will serve as vice chair and Kristen Beightol '01 is chair emerita.
Blocker is the Managing Trial Attorney at DeMayo Law Offices in Charlotte. She has been practicing plaintiff's personal injury law for more than 25 years. Blocker is also an advocate for giving back to the community. She is heavily involved with the North Carolina Mock Trial Program, where she serves as Secretary of the Board. She earned a bachelor's degree from Minot State University.
Morgan, who lives in Shelby, was a superior court judge for the 27B Judicial District of the Seventh Division of the Superior Court, serving Cleveland and Lincoln counties in North Carolina. He retired in December 2014. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Simpkins is an associate in the Raleigh office of Hedrick Gardner. His legal practice primarily focuses on administrative law with an emphasis on occupational/professional licensing. He served as the Campbell Law Wallace Leadership Fellow from 2019-2020. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Appalachian State University.
Wolfe joined the business and estate planning team at Young Moore and Henderson P.A. in Raleigh earlier this year. She has more than a decade of experience advising and representing clients in a variety of matters including business, commercial real estate and estate planning. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from UNC-Chapel Hill.
"The Alumni Association would like to thank the following alumni for serving on the board of directors: former Chair Emeritus Bo Walker '06, Mary Katherine Kurth '15, Jim W. Lea III '80 and Thomas Walker '90," Sherron added. "Thank you for your time and commitment to the Alumni Association."
Other current board members serving are George Burnette '13, William Cherry '05, Margaret Person Currin '79, Amanda Johnson Demopoulous '10, the Honorable James Herring III '84, James P. Laurie III '92, Ann Ochsner '11, Casey Peaden '17, Mark A. Scruggs '86, Stuart Smith '01 and Jay Tillman '99.
The Alumni Association currently boasts more than 640 alumni members including a number of lifetime members.
The Campbell Law Alumni Association will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025. The board works to foster a more interactive, engaged and robust alumni community. It does this by hosting a number of signature events throughout each year, in addition to Continuing Legal Education (CLE) opportunities, networking socials and providing career resources.
