Governor Polis Discusses Colorado’s Clean Energy Leadership at Global Leaders Energy Summit

GOLDEN - Today, Governor Polis joined global leaders at the Colorado School of Mines for the Global Leaders Energy Summit to discuss Colorado's nation-leading work in clean energy. Colorado remains steadfast in reaching the administration's goal of 100% clean energy by 2040.

"In Colorado, we are proud to be leading the nation in innovative technologies that promote clean energy and save people money, including our work to tap into underutilized resources like geothermal and hydrogen. At the Colorado School of Mines students and faculty are continuing to change the energy industry and pave the way for a new wave of clean energy initiatives that will propel Colorado toward a cleaner and more robust future, and an even stronger economy," said Governor Polis.

The Global Leaders Energy Summit inaugural launch, part of the Colorado School of Mines 150th Anniversary, aims to bring thought leaders from around the globe to discuss actions, and solutions and explore ideas for the future of energy. In Colorado, we are proudly leading the way to build a clean energy future that saves people money, creates jobs, improves our air quality, and protects our climate.

This past year, the Polis Administration passed comprehensive legislation and incentives to support geothermal investments in Colorado, streamline decision-making for deep geothermal wells at the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission, and continue work that encourages utilities in Colorado to adopt clean energy electricity generation and geothermal heating and cooling within the state. These laws build on the more than 70 laws that Governor Polis has signed around electric vehicles, improving air quality, improving building efficiency, cutting emissions, environmental justice and more.
