Mexican Government holds interministerial meeting on migration

The Mexican Government held an interministerial meeting this Friday at the Ministry of the Interior to discuss migration in national territory.

Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez and Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente chaired the meeting, joined by Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo and Navy Secretary Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles.

The meeting also included Security Undersecretary Héctor Elizalde Mora and Human Rights, Population and Migration Undersecretary Arturo Medina Padilla. Additional participants were Carlos Antonio Vásquez García, who heads the Migration Policy, Registration and Personal Identity Unit (UPMRIP); National Guard Commander Hernán Cortés Hernández; and Francisco Garduño Yáñez, Commissioner of the National Migration Institute (INM).

These regular high-level meetings ensure coordination across federal agencies to maintain a regular, orderly, and safe migration policy.

Key topics discussed included: assistance for migrant groups, the current management of irregular migration, international coordination, and the return of Mexican nationals to their communities of origin.
