UNESCO supports Ngongongare Primary School with ICT equipment to enhance digital learning

This generous donation, including three personal computers, three Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and a printer, represents a pivotal step in advancing digital literacy and bridging the technology gap for students and teachers at the school. Ms. Faith Shayo, the Head of the Education Sector at the UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office led the handover ceremony, reaffirming UNESCO's steadfast commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable quality education in Tanzania.

This momentous event follows a significant visit by the UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office staff on 30 May 2024, during which the team, under Mr. Toto's leadership, planted trees to inspire young learners to embrace environmental conservation. It was during this visit that the pressing need for adequate ICT resources was identified, prompting UNESCO to take decisive action. Providing this essential technology not only aligns with UNESCO's mission but also supports the Tanzanian Government's National ICT Policy for Basic Education, aimed at enhancing learning outcomes through the effective integration of digital tools.

Nestled within the unique ecological landscape of the Arusha Meru Aspiring Geopark, Ngongongare Primary School serves as a model for environmental conservation education. The newly provided ICT equipment will empower the school to expand its curriculum, offering students critical tools to thrive in the increasingly digital world. The excitement and enthusiasm of both students and teachers were evident as they welcomed these resources, which promise to enrich their educational experience significantly and unlock new avenues for academic and personal growth.

In her heartfelt remarks, Ms. Tatu Ramadhani, Head Teacher of Ngongongare Primary School, expressed profound gratitude to UNESCO for this generous support. She assured that the equipment would be well maintained and utilized effectively to enhance teaching and learning. Moreover, she urged UNESCO to continue mobilizing other education development partners to further bolster the school's growth, particularly by establishing a dedicated computer laboratory to deepen ICT integration. This initiative not only solidifies UNESCO's role as a key partner in advancing educational goals in Tanzania but also embodies a collaborative effort to create a brighter future for the next generation.
