UPDATE VICTIMS IDENTIFIED Detectives Working to Confirm the Name of Gunman Responsible for Overnight Double Homicide on Vultee Boulevard

Homicide Unit detectives are working to confirm the full name and determine the whereabouts of the gunman who fatally shot two men during the night outside the 1208 Vultee Boulevard home where he was living.

The investigation shows that the two victims, ages 29 and 37, arrived in the driveway of the home just after 11:30 p.m. in a white Acura sedan. The gunman, whose first name is reportedly Jose, was sitting on the front porch. Jose and the two victims argued briefly across the yard before Jose opened fire on them with two pistols. Both victims died at the scene. Both carried identification. A chaplain is attempting to locate their next of kin.

Hermitage Precinct officers responded to the shooting call quickly and saw an individual in a pickup truck attempting to leave. The driver, thought to have been Jose, got out of the truck and ran toward the house in the darkness. Responding officers surrounded the home and gave announcements in English and Spanish for the persons to exit. The occupants, a man and a woman, remained in the home for some four hours before ultimately coming outside. They acknowledged that Jose lived with them in the home. Jose is believed to have fled from the property on foot after leaving the pickup truck. Both of the pistols he is suspected of using were recovered outside.

The investigation, which is being supported by the Specialized Investigations Division, remains active.
