Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho visits and consoles separated family members on the occasion of Chuseok (September 13)
On September 13, ahead of Chuseok, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho paid a visit and offered consolation to Oh Changhwa, a 100-year-old member of a separated family, who fled from the bombings during the January-Fourth Retreat with only two of his four younger siblings.
Oh Changhwa, who had participated in Unification Ministry projects such as making video messages in search of his father and siblings left in the North, said, "I can no longer remember the faces of my family."
Minister Kim expressed his hopes for Oh Changhwa's continued health until the day he reunites with his siblings and promised, "The South Korean government will do its utmost to swiftly resolve the issue of separated families."
