Yaw, Hamm Announce $6,750,000 Awarded in Lycoming County

HARRISBURG -State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Joe Hamm (R-84) today announced $6,750,000 has been awarded to three projects in Lycoming County through the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

"Today's awards will have a tremendous impact on our local economy by improving facilities used to train a well-qualified workforce, expanding local businesses that bring good paying jobs to our region and revitalizing old properties for new use," Yaw said. "I was pleased to work with Rep. Hamm to help secure this important funding."

"Strengthening our workforce, offering more opportunities for our youth and providing more jobs and economic growth for our area are vitally important," Hamm said. "These projects will have a significant impact on the future of Lycoming County. I want to thank Sen. Yaw for working with me to get these RACP grants for Lycoming County."

The following entities in Lycoming County received funding:

• Lycoming Career and Technology Center: $5,000,000 to make much needed renovations and upgrades to their current facility. LycoCTC is located on the East Lycoming School District campus in Hughesville and serves students from East Lycoming, Loyalsock, Montoursville, Muncy, Benton, and Warrior Run School Districts. LycoCTC has seen significant enrollment increases in the last few years, and the expansion project will allow them to accept more students and offer additional Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming.
• FamVest Partners -Lycoming Mall LLC: $1,000,000 to continue ongoing efforts to renovate and rehabilitate the former Lycoming Mall site. The developer has been making great progress with the site and has been in negotiations with potential tenants which will transform this neighborhood in Muncy Township into a thriving part of our community.
• Economy Locker LLC: $750,000 for an expansion project of the Economy Locker Country Store facility in Muncy Township, Lycoming County. The project will allow Economy Locker to significantly upsize their production to allow them to sell into many more markets than they currently do.

"Investments in these projects will provide them with the additional funding needed to complete work that will pay back dividends to the county and commonwealth through new job creation," said Jason Fink, Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. "The biggest investment and most impactful funding will be for the Lycoming Career and Technical Center. More students are choosing career and technical education pathways, creating greater demand upon the participating districts to meet their needs. Many of these high school students will go directly into the local workforce upon graduation and this investment at LycoCTC will have an almost immediate payback. The Chamber greatly appreciates the work of Sen. Yaw and Rep. Hamm in securing funding for these projects."

RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act. They must have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
