SMCC welcomed hundreds of accepted and prospective students at Fall ’24 Open House

SMCC welcomed hundreds of accepted and prospective students and their families on Saturday for the 2024 Fall Open House. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to visit the campus and explore the diverse range of over 40 program offerings, catering to a wide array of interests and career paths, as well as short and long-term workforce training.
The event ran from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and included information on enrollment, program presentations, and tours of the campus and residence halls. Attendees explored the beautiful oceanside campus and learned more about the exciting opportunities that SMCC offers.
Shortly after the doors opened, SMCC President Kristen Miller welcomed the crowd and expressed her excitement about the event. "We encourage you to challenge yourself to go beyond your goals, discover a new passion, or forge a unique career path," Miller said. "SMCC is a place where possibilities expand and traditional boundaries fade away. We're committed to providing an environment where you can thrive, grow, and reach higher than you ever thought possible."
"This event opens up my ability to see people, see the campus, talk to coaches and teachers," Casey Huse, a prospective Fire Sciences student from Cape Cod, said. "It helps me make my decision." Huse is interested in becoming a golfer on the SeaWolves team.
Faculty members from SMCC's degree and certificate programs and staff were present to answer any inquiries about the College. Maureen LaSalle, Culinary and L.Joe Van Why School of Hospitality Chair, emphasized the event's importance and the personal touch that SMCC strives to provide in all interactions.
"It's a great opportunity for us to really highlight the fact that we're so focused on hands-on learning," LaSalle said."No matter what your interest is, SMCC does such a great job of meeting the needs of all our learners, ensuring a high-quality, practical education."
"I am a strong encourager of people taking the opportunity to visit as many college campuses as possible," Joshua Walker, Assistant Director of Admissions, said. "This event provides an opportunity to showcase what's possible at SMCC and to expand access to students interested in beginning their education, changing careers or adding new skills."
