NORFOLK, Va., -- Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will operate modified schedules for the holiday season.
Thanksgiving
On Nov. 27, HRT bus, light rail, ferry, Base Express, paratransit, and OnDemand ridesharing services will operate on a regular schedule. The Downtown Norfolk Transit Center information booth will close at 4:30 p.m. All other transit center information booths will operate on normal schedules. The Customer Service call center will be available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Nov. 28, in observance of Thanksgiving, most HRT bus routes will operate on a regular Sunday schedule, but some bus routes will operate on a modified Sunday schedule with service ending earlier. (Visit www.gohrt.com for details). The Tide light rail, Base Express, paratransit and OnDemand ridesharing will operate on a Sunday schedule. The ferry will not operate. Transit center information booths and the Customer Service call center will be closed.
On Nov. 29, bus, light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and ridesharing services will operate on a Saturday schedule. The ferry will run on its regular schedule. Transit center information booths and the Customer Service call center will be closed.
Christmas
On Dec. 24, all services will operate on a regular schedule, except for Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967 and 972, which will not operate. Specialized trips (Routes 414, 921, 961 and 964) will operate, but they will not serve the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard. Transit center information booths and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed.
On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, most bus routes will operate on a regular Sunday schedule, but some bus routes will operate on a modified Sunday schedule with service ending earlier (visit www.gohrt.com for details). The light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and ridesharing services will operate on a Sunday schedule. The ferry will not operate. Transit center information booths and the Customer Service call center will be closed.
Due to the closure of the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard for the Christmas and New Year's holidays, bus Routes 403, 405, 415, 430, 966, 967 and 972 will not operate from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2025. These routes will resume operation on Jan. 2, 2025.
New Year's
On New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, bus, light rail, Base Express, paratransit, and ridesharing services will operate on a regular schedule. The ferry will operate until 2 a.m. The Downtown Norfolk Transit Center information booth will close at 4:30 p.m. All other transit center information booths will operate on regular schedules. The Customer Service call center will operate from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
