Cold weather resources and shelters for the homeless

Cold weather resources and shelters for the homeless

Published on November 27, 2024

As cold temperatures are expected to roll in on Friday evening, the City of Fort Worth is sharing resources to support and protect those experiencing homelessness.

Regular emergency shelters are prepared to serve individuals on cold nights:

For individuals, go to:

  • Presbyterian Night Shelter: 2400 Cypress St.
  • Union Gospel Mission: 1321 E. Lancaster Ave.

For families, go to:

  • The Salvation Army: 1855 E. Lancaster Ave. (Eligible households to stay at this location must include at least one parent and one child.)

Emergency Overnight Overflow Shelter

When weather triggers are met, staff are prepared to activate additional locations with overflow beds as needed. If individuals arrive at Presbyterian Night Shelter or Union Gospel Mission and beds are full, they will be relocated to available overflow beds at one of the available additional emergency shelter locations. The plan ensures demand will not exceed capacity.

To check to see if cold weather overflow shelters have been activated, call 311 and press 9.

Daytime Resource

The primary daytime resource for adults experiencing homelessness is True Worth Place, 1513 E. Presidio St., which operates daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find more information about local homeless resources and services on the Directions Home webpage.
