Marquette University's Civic Dialogues to host town hall on 2024 election, Oct. 24

MILWAUKEE - Dr. Julia Azari, professor of political science and director of the Civic Dialogues program at Marquette University, will moderate a panel discussion of Civic Dialogues student leaders, student facilitators and past participants ahead of the 2024 election on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.

The panel will discuss the Civic Dialogues approach and how it has shaped students' and community members' views about political divisions, political campaigns and the upcoming Nov. 5 elections.

Since 2021, Marquette Civic Dialogues has worked to foster deliberation about the pressing issues facing the world today. The Civic Dialogues program was created to teach students how to practice civil conversation and honest dialogue in a society that is increasingly at odds. This program is helping the Marquette community to foster skills for communicating effectively and respectfully with one another with lessons and strategies to help engage in deliberative and honest exchanges of ideas around important topics.
