Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul will visit New York from September 23 to 28 to attend the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Minister Cho, as the head of the Korean government delegation, will deliver a national statement during the General Debate, and attend key meetings, including the Security Council High-Level Open Debate and the ministerial-level meeting of the Peacebuilding Commission, where he will express Korea's commitment to contributing to sustainable development and peace of the international community.

Minister Cho will also take part in the Group of 20 (G20) Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the MIKTA Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and discuss issues that the international community is facing, such as global governance reform and sustainable development.

In addition, Minister Cho will attend the high-level side event related to the UN Plastic Treaty, where the Korean government, as the host country for the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee, will garner the international community's commitment to reaching an agreement.

Besides, Minister Cho will attend the Principals' Meeting of the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP), of which Korea is serving as the chair, and deliver welcoming remarks, in which he will emphasize the importance of cooperation among MSP partners to stabilize and diversify the critical minerals supply chain.

Furthermore, Minister Cho will hold around 20 bilateral and minilateral meetings with foreign ministers of other countries and representatives of international organizations attending the UN General Assembly, and discuss a range of issues.

Minister Cho will seek international support for the August 15 Unification Doctrine on every occasion, and also attend the side event on North Korean human rights, which aims to raise the international community's awareness of the North Korean human rights issue and send a unified message to North Korea.

Meanwhile, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Insun will chair the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) Principals' Meeting to be held in New York on September 26 during the UN General Assembly session.

As the chair of the MSP, Vice Minister Kang will discuss the establishment of a stable supply chain for critical minerals, such as graphite and lithium, with the 15 MSP partners. In particular, she will propose measures to facilitate MSP projects to ensure that critical minerals are smoothly supplied to advanced industries, including semiconductors and batteries.
