The University of Hawaiʻi is asking commuters and residents who live near UH Mānoa to anticipate heavier-than-normal traffic on Saturday, November 30, when the UH football team hosts New Mexico at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex for the final game of the 2024 season.

Kick-off is at 6 p.m., and traffic is expected to start to increase in the afternoon in both directions of the H-1 Freeway, especially the University Avenue off-ramps, along with the surrounding neighborhood streets, including University Avenue, Dole Street and Wai'alae Avenue.

In addition to football, UH is hosting a number of events this week, including the HHSAA State Football Open Division Championship (Nov. 29) and the American Savings Bank Rainbow Wahine Showdown women's basketball tournament (Nov. 29-Dec. 1). Visit the UH Athletics website for parking information for all of these events.

UH staff assisted by special duty HPD officers will be stationed on the roads around campus to ensure traffic flows as efficiently as possible before and after the events. The university is also utilizing the latest parking technology to expedite entry into and exit from the games and will continue to coordinate with the city to adjust traffic lights to expedite traffic flow as needed.

UH football parking

The lower campus parking structure opens at 2 p.m. UH football fans attending the game must have a pre-purchased parking pass to enter. Pre-purchased parking in the lower campus structure is available starting at $25 at etickethawaii.com. To minimize delays, fans MUST have their football parking pass (mobile or printed) ready to be validated when they arrive at the parking kiosks on Lower Campus.

Upper campus lots also open at 2 p.m. and will be available on game day for $15 (credit card or mobile wallet payment only; no cash payment). The two entryways are via East-West Road off of Dole Street and Maile Way off of University Avenue. If you need assistance navigating to the stadium once you arrive, see the stadium in relation to your current location (requires location services to be activated).

UH football tailgating

For the first time this season, tailgating will be allowed on upper campus. Fans have the opportunity to purchase tailgate passes, ranging from Kennedy Theatre down to Campus Center, in Zone 13 parking lots. The tailgate lot will open at 2 p.m. One pass is good for one vehicle (no oversized vehicles or trailers). Parking spots will be on a first come first served basis, as there will not be any saved or reserved parking stalls. Tailgate activities must conclude 30 minutes before kickoff, and fans will be asked to walk down to attend the game. For more information and to purchase tailgate passes, visit this website, and for a list of tailgating policies, visit this website.

If you plan to park in the surrounding neighborhoods, please be respectful of area residents and do not block driveways or make excessive noise.

"Kickoff at the Les" has moved to the NEW Pāʻina on the Path, 2:30-5:30 p.m., located on upper campus next to Andrews Amphitheater off of Dole Street. Fans are invited to enjoy music, entertainment, vendors, food and drink options, as well as a keiki zone. Admission is free (entrance to the beer garden requires a valid football game ticket).
