There is a new bankruptcy fraud spreading in the country. The "Bankruptcy Fraud Watchdog Group" is sending letters to consumer debtors falsely accusing them of failing to disclose assets. The letter threatens referral to the United States Bankruptcy Trustee for fraud if a one-time amnesty fine is not paid to avoid further legal consequences. This is a scam and has been reported to the U.S. Trustee Program.
If you are a debtor, please do not take any action on any letter until you talk to your attorney for advice.
