Undersecretary Tripodi ppens Donor Committee Meeting for Ukraine Reconstruction at the Farnesina

On Wednesday, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, opened the 11th meeting of the steering committee of the donor platform for Ukraine at the Farnesina. This group, comprising G7+ countries, is responsible for coordinating assistance to Kyiv in relation to the reform process and the country's recovery and reconstruction projects.

"The Italian G7 Presidency is keeping Ukraine at the centre of its agenda, with an increasing focus on recovery and reconstruction," the Undersecretary stated during her speech, reaffirming the Italian Government's commitment to supporting this process.

In the conclusions, the commitment to supporting Ukraine's budget and addressing the energy emergency caused by attacks on its infrastructure, especially with the impending winter, was reiterated. The importance of the reform process to encourage private sector participation in the reconstruction was also highlighted. The steering committee welcomed the announcement of the first set of reconstruction projects approved by the Ukrainian government.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Special Envoy for Ukraine's Reconstruction, Davide La Cecilia, led the session with the Business Advisory Council, chaired by German Christian Bruch (CEO of Siemens Energy). He emphasised that "private sector participation is essential for the success of the reconstruction, and the 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Italy will aim to also mobilise the Italian industrial sector in this direction."
