King of Prussia, PA-King of Prussia District and sponsors of the 13th annual KOP Takes Out Hunger Food Drive presented a record donation to Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard (UMACC) on Thursday, December 5. The $31,698 donation was raised during the District's award-winning Igloo Garden on the Green pop-up event, which was held in King of Prussia Town Center from November 5-19 in conjunction with the food drive. This was the largest single monetary donation that UMACC has ever received, and brings the District's 3-year total donation to $76,588.
"We are deeply grateful for this generous donation, which will have a profound impact on the work we do at the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard," said Angela C. Michael, Pantry Manager for UMACC. "This support allows us to ensure that our families have access to nutritious food and essential resources during challenging times. With these funds, we can stock our shelves with fresh and diverse items, improve our services and provide additional items that will uplift our neighbors in need. Together, we are not just addressing hunger but building hope and a stronger community."
King of Prussia District's KOP Takes Out Hunger Food Drive, produced in partnership with Conlin's Print and presented by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's King of Prussia Campus, ran from November 1 - December 5. Businesses throughout King of Prussia hosted 32 donations boxes and collected a combined 3,319 pounds of food and goods for UMACC. In 13 years, King of Prussia District and participating businesses have collected 6.6 tons of food for UMACC.
King of Prussia District introduced Igloo Garden on the Green during the food drive in 2022 to raise much-needed funds for the pantry and has continually improved and expanded the popular experiential pop-up each year to accommodate demand. In 2024, the magical takeout dining experience was extended to two weeks and featured six heated igloos, beautifully furnished and decorated by AVE King of Prussia and Ethan Allen. Upon booking via OpenTable, diners paid a per-person reservation fee which was donated to UMACC. In total, 547 reservations were booked and 1,504 guests dined at Igloo Garden on the Green.
"Each year we are blown away by the community's support for Igloo Garden on the Green and Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard," said Eric Goldstein, President & CEO of King of Prussia District. "We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and the many businesses that help us create this magical experience for King of Prussia."
