RTA to raise fares for the first time in years for fixed route, paratransit services

(DAYTON, OHIO)… Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will update its fare structure for the first time since 2018 to reflect increasing costs of providing services. This will be the first of three annual increases to fixed route, paratransit, and On-Demand services.

The changes are as follows:

Fixed route Current 1/1/2025

Single ride - adult $2 $2.20

Single ride - reduced $1 $1.10

Daily cap - adult $4 $4.50

Daily cap - reduced $2 $2.25

Monthly cap - adult $55 $60

Monthly cap - reduced $32 $32

RTA Connect - paratransit

Single ride $3.50 $4

Daily cap $7 $9

Monthly cap $115 $120

RTA Connect On-Demand

Single ride No charge $3

No show/late cancellation No charge $3

These changes still provide affordable daily and monthly caps through the RTA Tapp Pay payment system.

In April, RTA invited the community to comment on proposed fare increases. As a result of feedback from customers, RTA is implementing fewer increases over a longer time period and is beginning the fare increase in Jan. 2025 instead of Sept. of 2024.

The last change to RTA's fare structure was in 2018, when fixed route single ride adult fares increased from $1.75 to $2. The last time RTA paratransit fares increased was in 2009, when a single ride fare went from $3 to $3.50.
