Percival Plinth Project Applications Close January 6, 2025
The City of Olympia is seeking up to 18 loaned sculptures from Washington and Oregon state artists for temporary outdoor display on Percival Landing, a waterfront park at the southernmost end of the Puget Sound in view of the state capitol located in Olympia, WA. Selected artists receive a $1,000 honorarium for the one-year loan of their work and are eligible for consideration for the Peoples' Prize purchase award of up to $10,000, where one sculpture is selected for purchase by public vote and added to the City's public art collection.
Applications due January 6, 2025 by 11:45pm.

"Fridays at the First" 2024-2025 Free Concert Series
First Christian Church hosts the 2024-25 series of free noontime concerts beginning Friday, November 29, 2024, and concluding January 10, 2025. This is the 25th season of free concerts held in the church's acoustically excellent sanctuary. The church library opens at noon for hospitality - complimentary coffee and cookies. The concerts begin an noon and last about an hour. The concerts are free. The musicians gratefully accept your contributions. For further information, call the church at 360-943-8025.

Olympia Tumwater Foundation Transition
The Olympia Tumwater Foundation announces the retirement of John Freedman, its Executive Director for the past 12 years. Freedman will transition out of his role by the end of this year, leaving behind a legacy marked by economic stability, strategic growth, and a strong commitment to the community.
The Foundation also announces that Todd Cutts will take over as Executive Director effective December 16, 2024. Most recently Executive Director of the Olympia Downtown Alliance for the past seven years, Cutts brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, economic development, and community engagement. He has a proven track record of fostering organizational growth and strengthening ties with local partners.

The 10th Annual Washington State Zine Contest is now open!

All ages!

Participants must be Washington State residents.

Zines must be created in 2024 or 2025 and be at least 8 pages long.

Submissions will be read by people of all ages; please only non-offensive content in your zine.

Prizes will be awarded to a winner in each age/grade group: pre 4th grade, grades 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and adults of all ages!

Zines will be judged on: Creativity/Originality, Visual and Aesthetic Appeal, Quality of Writing/Readability, and Design/Format/Layout.

Entries must be postmarked by March 28, 2025.

Call for Artists: Artworks Northwest Biennial
Starting December 2nd, artists residing in the Pacific Northwest will have the opportunity to take part in this special biannual exhibition! The Artworks Northwest Biennial is a curated and juried invitational for artists who reside in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia, Western Montana and Western Wyoming. This exhibition is a showcase of the different artistic practices from contemporary creators in the region and an important platform for artists at any stage of their artistic career.
Artworks for this exhibition are chosen by a curator who resides/works in the Pacific Northwest whom UVA invites to lend their eye and their voice in the broader Pacific Northwest art scene to the exhibition. Our announcement for the 2025 Artworks Northwest Biennial will be coming in early 2025.
Artworks are also juried by the curator and eligible to receive one of four awards associated with this exhibition including First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and the J. Lynn Peterson Honorable Mention Award
