One in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But only half of those living with mental illness seek help, says the National Institute of Mental Health.
Sometimes things out of our control make it hard to seek face-to-face therapy. Factors like social stigma, being worried what people might think, or in the case of in-person therapy, geographic limitations where there may not be many providers nearby, can keep us from reaching out for help. Cost and affordability can also stop us from scheduling an appointment.
Learn to Live, an online, on-demand, self-paced mental health service, is available at no additional cost to all HealthSelect of Texas® medical plan participants who are age 13 and older and living in the U.S., including those enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelectSM or HealthSelectSM Secondary, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX).
The Learn to Live program is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and can help support participants who may not feel comfortable speaking one-on-one with a mental health care professional in person or in a virtual setting. Digital CBT has been clinically proven and has been used consistently for over 20 years. It allows you to access care at a pace that you are comfortable with.
The program provides online, coach-supported programs that can help participants overcome depression, insomnia, panic disorder, stress, anxiety and substance use. Learn to Live will match you with an experienced coach who's ready to guide you forward. Your coach can provide support, encouragement and answers to all your questions via weekly email, text or phone call. All coaches are highly trained, full-time employees with a masters-level or higher degree in social work or psychology, with prior experience in clinical settings. Sign up today at no additional cost.
