Diane Ford was named Young Alumna of the Year, and Rebecca Brock received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business at the school's Alumni Day held in October.
Ford, an attorney practicing estate law in Winston-Salem, said she is thankful for Campbell University's role in giving her space to consider her strengths and goals and teaching her the importance of ethics and values in her professional and personal life.
"I learned how to lead a professional life of purpose because of Campbell," said Ford.
Brock spoke of the family she still has at Campbell and of how her alma mater has played a large role in her success.
"When I think of my career path, it was built with values I learned at Campbell: passion, persistence and purpose," she said.
Today, Brock serves as a senior vice president and fiduciary director for Truist Wealth. During the ceremony, she encouraged students to strive for excellence in whatever role they find themselves in and reminded them that while career paths may change, the key is to support others, give back and stay grounded in their roots.
She left the audience with a quote by Winston Churchill: "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give."
Brock and Ford were joined by a dozen other Campbell Business alumni who returned to their alma mater to give back by sharing their experiences and advice with students across the business school. The Young Alumni Panel emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities during college and the value of hard work and persistence in building a successful path after graduation.
Senior finance and international business major Craig McQuitty captured the spirit of the event, saying, "Alumni Day gives me the chance to network with alumni who were in my shoes just a few years ago. Hearing their stories about transitioning from college life to the workforce provides valuable insights and helps me envision what my own path might look like."
