Members of Friendship Group Armenia-Great Britain meet with Member of the House of Lords of Parliament of the United Kingdom Mark McInnes

On December 13, the Head of the RA NA Friendship Group Armenia-Great Britain Eduard Aghajanyan met with the Member of the House of Lords of Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Mark McInnes, who arrived in Yerevan to take part in the 5th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide.

The members of the Friendship Group, the deputies of the Civil Contract Faction Maria Karapetyan, Zaruhi Batoyan, Mariam Poghosyan and the member of the NA Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan participated in the meeting.

Eduard Aghajanyan highlighted the establishment of strategic dialogue between Armenia and the United Kingdom, underscoring, particularly, the cooperation on the regional security and human rights. He informed that the implementing reforms in Armenia are aimed at the stable development of the country. Eduard Aghajanyan thanked the Government of Great Britain for providing assistance to the International Committee of the Red Cross to support our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh.

The Head of the Friendship Group also spoke about the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, emphasizing the importance of active dialogue especially between the parliamentary friendship groups.

In the context of deepening relations between the two countries, Eduard Aghajanyan also valued the issue of acquiring a new building for the Armenian Embassy in London.

The members of the NA Friendship Group Armenia-Great Britain touched upon the issues of establishing security and peace in the South Caucasus, the implementation of the social programmes aimed at our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh, underscored the necessity of the implementation of the long-term programmes with the international colleagues.

In his turn Mark McInnes noted that Armenia is a strategic partner for Great Britain. The guest also emphasized the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the mutual visits of Friendship Groups. He informed that the Friendship Group with Armenia was re-formed in Parliament of Great Britain, and its Head was elected the friend of Armenia Jessica Morden.

In the context of deepening relations between the two countries the interlocutors also attached importance to the re-opening of British Airlines.
