Holiday Collection Schedule Changes for Trash & Recycling Pickups

Solid Waste & Recycling Collection Changes

Thanksgiving 2024

  • City of Clearwater offices, libraries and recreation facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29, for Thanksgiving.
  • Thursday collections will be made on Wednesday, Nov. 27 for both residential service and commercial garbage service.
  • Thursday's commercial cardboard collection will be picked up on Friday, Nov. 29.
  • Residents with questions can call the Solid Waste Operations Line at (727) 562-4920.

Christmas 2024 and New Year's Day 2025

  • City of Clearwater offices, libraries and recreation facilities will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, for Christmas and New Year's Day.
  • Clearwater Solid Waste will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, so our employees can be home with their families.
  • There are no collections made on Wednesdays, so there will be no change to the collection schedule for residential and commercial black-barrel and recycling blue-barrel pickups.
  • The Utility Customer Service Department will close at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Residents with questions can call the Solid Waste Operations Line at (727) 562-4920.

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

  • On Monday, Jan. 20, solid waste and recycling employees will be working, and there will be no change to the collection schedule.
  • Residents with questions can call the Solid Waste Operations Line at (727) 562-4920.

Christmas Tree Disposal

For residents in single-family homes:

  • Remove all decorations and lights from tree.
  • Place whole tree on the curb on your regular day of service.
  • There are no quantity limits.
  • There is no set end date of when collection of trees will end.
  • Do not put trees or other yard waste into your recycling bin.

For residents in multi-family units:

  • Contact your property management company or homeowners association for instructions on tree disposal.

The city does not have a designated drop-off site for Christmas trees.
