SEMO Board of Governors Selects Officers

James P. Limbaugh of Cape Girardeau, Missouri was elected president of the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors, and Lloyd F. Smith of Sikeston, Missouri was elected Board vice president following an election during the Board of Governors work session Thursday, December 12.

Limbaugh currently serves as the Board vice president and succeeds Tina L. Klocke of St. Louis, Missouri.

About James P. Limbaugh

Limbaugh holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a marketing major and Master of Arts in teaching, both from Southeast Missouri State University. He is a graduate of the ABA National Commercial Lending School and the ABA National Commercial Lending Graduate School, both from the University of Oklahoma. Limbaugh serves as the regional president and executive vice president of Montgomery Bank in Cape Girardeau.

Limbaugh has previously served as executive vice president of planning and business development for SoutheastHEALTH Regional Healthcare System and has a breadth of experience in the financial services industry with his primary focus being on community banking. This is his second term serving on the University's Board. He is also a member of the Redhawks Club and past president of the SEMO Booster Club Executive Committee. Limbaugh is an Emeritus member of the University's Foundation Board having served as chairman of the Foundation's first ever capital campaign which began in 1987 with a focal point of the campaign the building of Dempster Hall

Limbaugh and his wife, Benita who is also a SEMO alum, have three children and six grandchildren.

About Lloyd F. Smith

Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in secondary speech education from Southeast Missouri State University. He served as the executive director of the Missouri Republican Party until his retirement in 2013. Smith has served a total 28 years to Missouri's 8th Congressional District. He has coordinated legislative federal funding for the River Campus, along with other efforts for the 8th District. Smith was the Missouri political director for George W. Bush's presidential campaign in 2004 and has advised over two dozen legislative candidates statewide.


Smith and his wife, Trista, have three children.
