At 2:19 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, The Fargo Police Department was dispatched to a report of a domestic aggravated assault and shooting in the 5500 block of 36th Avenue South.
Upon arrival and after an initial investigation, officers learned the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. It was determined the suspect chased the victim into an occupied neighboring unit and shots were fired by the suspect into the unit. An occupant of that unit was struck by gunfire. Both victims were taken to a local healthcare facility to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
FPD officers quickly located the suspect's vehicle parked on the side of the road in the 800 block of 34th Street North after utilizing the FLOCK camera system to identify a possible route of travel from the scene of the aggravated assault and shooting. Officers utilized Red River Valley SWAT's armored Bearcat vehicle to get close to the vehicle in attempt to make contact with the driver, who was not responding to officers' verbal commands to exit the vehicle. The regional drone team assisted by flying their drone to get a closer look inside the suspect's vehicle. After making contact with the suspect's vehicle, officers found the suspect was deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
This investigation is still active and ongoing.
