WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution introduced by U.S. Senators Collins and Angus King designating Saturday, December 14, 2024 as "Wreaths Across America Day." The annual event honors our nation's fallen heroes with commemorative Maine-made balsam wreaths laid by millions of volunteers across the globe, including by a convoy that travels from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
"This annual Maine-led tradition unites volunteers to honor our heroes by laying wreaths at locations across the country," said Senators Collins and King. "We are proud to recognize this important day and the dedication of those who help ensure the legacies of our servicemembers live on for generations to come."
Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 4,200 locations across the United States and abroad. In 2023, approximately 3 million wreaths were laid by more than 3 million volunteers. Each wreath is crafted in Maine.
The general public can register to participate in Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. on December 14th here.
