Project updates for the week of Dec. 16, 2024

Anderson County

Palestine crews will be performing asphalt overlay at various locations on FM 2022. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Anderson County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.4 miles SE of SH 155, SE to Cuney
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $55.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue working on the new westbound bridge and roadway elements, including pavement and ditch work on the eastbound and westbound sides. FM 1892 is now closed, and traffic is being detoured to CR 307. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the project. Traffic switch is expected at the north end of the project. Expect lane closures and delays. The speed limit is reduced throughout the project limits. Project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges across the Neches River.

US 79 Truck Parking Area

  • Limits: From 2.2 Mi E of FM 645 in Palestine
  • Contractor: FNH Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $664,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2024

The contractor is awaiting final acceptance. Operations will be in the right of way, but motorists should use caution when traveling through the area. The project includes concrete curb and gutter, earthwork, and drainage improvements.

Gus Engeling Texas Parks and Wildlife

  • Limits: Roads and parking lot within Gus Engeling Wildlife Management area
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $171,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is awaiting final acceptance. Operations are off public roadways. The project includes surface treatment, pavement striping, and drainage improvements.

Cherokee County

This week, Jacksonville and Rusk crews will be cleaning ditches at various locations throughout the county. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Cherokee County construction projects updates:

SH 204

  • Limits: From SH 110 to the Rusk County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $22.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The contractor is scheduled to extend the box culverts, place temporary seed, and reinstall storm water drainage on the west end of the project. Crews are also expected to excavate and haul material to the east end of the project. Traffic delays are expected due to lane closures. The project consists of adding a super-two highway section.

FM 2339 - SH 110

  • Limits: 2.7 miles north of Rusk
  • Contractor: Red Barron
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

This project is a change order to a bridge preventative maintenance project that consists of installing a temporary soil nail wall and a permanent retaining wall to address slope failure on SH 110. Work is currently suspended on this project, pending a redesign. No lane closures are anticipated. Motorists should drive with caution.

US 69 and FM 2493 Grade Separated Interchange Realignment - SH 110

  • Limits: US 69 - From 0.5 mi N of FM 2493 W to 0.5 mi south of FM 2493 E

FM 2493 - From 0.3 mi south of FM 344 to US 69 near Bullard

  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $38.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

Construction is on-going on FM 2493 east of US 69 for drainage structures and driveways. No lane closures are expected. Motorists should drive with caution. This project consists of grade separated interchange and realignment of FM 2493, west of US 69.

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.5 miles E of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville
  • Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, INC.
  • Cost: $168 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The contractor is working on the westbound side of the road behind the traffic barrier. The east end of the CR 3407 (Dip Road) intersection closed Monday, Oct. 28. Drivers should use the west end of CR 3407 to access U.S. 175. Crews are setting bridge beams, and one-way traffic control is in place. The contractor is also clearing utility items. Drivers should watch for large dirt-moving equipment and a traffic switch in the construction area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph throughout the project. This project will expand U.S. 175 to a four-lane road with new bridges, grading, asphalt paving, drainage, pavement markings, and signs.

US 69 Safety Improvement

  • Limits: US 69 limits from FM 241 to 1.11 miles north of FM 851
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $3.85 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is scheduled to install the mow strip in the medians along US 69. They will also install the anchors for the new cable barrier. Lane closures are anticipated. The project consists of safety improvements consisting of the installation of a median cable barrier.

Gregg County

This week, Longview Maintenance is scheduled to begin asphalt repair work on SS 502. The work will be done from FM 1844 to Hawkins Parkway. Motorists should expect lane closures throughout the week.

Gregg County construction projects updates:

SH 135 - Kilgore Traffic Circle

  • Limits: Traffic circle in Kilgore to Rusk County line
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge
  • Cost: $8.37 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2025

This project involves rebuilding the traffic circle and the entire width of the roadway up to the Rusk County line. Crews will demolish the west side of the road, which includes removing the old concrete, rebuilding the foundation, installing new concrete pavement, adding storm sewers, and completing lighting and striping. Two-way traffic is now open south of the traffic circle. The contractor is working on storm sewers and paving at the circle location.

FM 2206/Harrison Road Phase 1

  • Limits: From Loop 281 to Fisher Rd.
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $15.16 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: January 2025

This project will widen a two-lane road to four lanes with a center turn lane. The work includes adding drainage structures, a flexible base, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and pavement markings. Crews will be installing permanent striping and completing punch list items.

FM 2206/Harrison Road Phase 2

  • Limits: Fisher Rd. to SH 42
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $14.15 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2024

This project will widen a two-lane road to four lanes with a center turn lane. The work includes adding drainage structures, a flexible base, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and pavement markings. The contractor is working on punch list items.

High Street Bridge over UP Railroad

  • Limits: Nelson St. to Marion Dr.
  • Contractor: Ragle Construction
  • Cost: $9.3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: January 2025

This project will replace the High Street bridge over the UP railroad. High Street is reduced to two lanes - one northbound and one southbound. Crews will build one half of the bridge at a time and are working on retaining walls and the new bridge structure. Drivers should expect delays.

Henderson County

This week crews will continue surface and base repairs on FM 314 south of Brownsboro. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Crews will also perform pothole repairs, sign maintenance, herbicide application, and sweeping throughout the county.

Henderson County construction projects updates:

SH 198 Bridge Project

  • Limits: At the Clear Creek Bridge a mile north of FM 3054 to 0.1 mile north of CR 2830
  • Contractor: Copasa Inc.
  • Cost: $30.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is waiting for final vegetation to be established. Drivers should be ready for lane closures and delays. The speed limit is reduced to 50 mph throughout the project. The work includes replacing bridges and approaches, grading, structures, base and surface work, retaining walls, curbs and gutters, fencing, and striping.

FM 316 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 1861 to US 175
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $7.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is working on punch list items and awaiting final vegetation establishment. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the project and expect lane closures and delays. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

FM 315 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 3079 to FM 317
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $1.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is working on punch list items. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the project and expect lane closures with delays. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

BUS 19 Sidewalks

  • Limits: From Ben Belt Fr. To S Loop 7 ramps
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil, LCC
  • Cost: $2.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

Sidewalk construction is underway and will continue this week. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the project and expect lane closures and delays. This project includes sidewalk and pedestrian lane improvements.

Rusk County

Henderson maintenance will have a crew repairing edges on FM 13, west of Loop 571. Crews will also work on SH 64, heading east from the Turnertown intersection. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. A second crew will be repairing joints on SH 42. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Rusk County construction projects updates:

US 84 - FM 225 East to CR 3155

  • Limits: FM 225 east to CR 3155
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company
  • Cost: $12.8 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: November 2025

This project consists of reconstructing US 84, extended structures, hot mix asphalt surface, new signs, and striping. Crews will be extending cross culverts. Motorists should expect delays.

FM 3231 - Subgrade and Seal coat

  • Limits: FM 1251 to SH 43
  • Contractor: Lone Star Equipment
  • Cost: $15.9 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: January 2025

This project consists of reconstructing FM 3231 completely. Work includes widening and re-laying subgrade, flex base material, and seal coat. Driveway culverts will be upgraded along with new signs and striping. The contractor is scheduled to install the metal beam guard fence. Expect lane closures with flaggers and a pilot car controlling traffic.

SH 315

  • Limits: US 259 to the Panola County line
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $13.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: January 2025

This project consists of widening pavement edges and installing a four-foot space between the traffic lanes to separate opposing traffic for safety. Work will also include adding a passing lane in each direction of travel. The entire surface will be milled, and new hot mix will be placed for the final surface. Project also includes replacing some driveway pipes, metal beam guard fence, and striping. The contractor is scheduled to repair the shoulder.

FM 2658

  • Limits: FM 1251 to SH 43
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction
  • Cost: $9.6 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: July 2025

This project consists of reconstructing FM 2658 completely, from CR 344 to FM 1251. Work includes a new guard fence, treating subgrade, base material, seal coat, and striping. The contractor is scheduled to close the roadway at the south end of the project near the bridge. This is to accommodate the install of a new guardrail. Weather permitting, this closure is expected to last approximately three weeks. Property owners will still be allowed access to each end of the bridge. A detour has been established via FM 1251 to SH 43, then to FM 2658.

US 79 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: Cherokee County line to 1.3 miles east of SH 42
  • Contractor: Reynolds and Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $4.9 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: December 2024

This project consists of rehabilitation of US 79 consisting of pavement repair, seal coat, asphalt surface, driveway culverts, and pavement markings. This week, the contractor is scheduled to continue clearing the right of way. Motorists should expect delays with flaggers controlling traffic.

US 79 N

  • Limits: CR 344 to CR 333
  • Contractor: Garrett Shields Construction
  • Cost: $718,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: January 2025

This project consists of repairing slope failure in the TxDOT right of way. The site will be excavated, and a new embankment will be placed. This week, the contractor will be placing the new embankment. Most of the work will be off of the roadway. Motorists should expect shoulder closures and trucks entering the highway.

Smith County

Tyler Maintenance will be repairing base failures on FM 15. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. A second crew will be performing edge repairs on FM 3341. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Smith County construction projects updates:

Tyler State Park Bridge and Resurfacing Project

  • Limits: Park Maintenance Road in Tyler State Park SW to Cedar Point Camping Area Exit
  • Contractor: Encino Landscape
  • Cost: $2.4 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor is pending the repairs of some final punch list items. Major items of work have been completed. This project consists of the construction of a new bridge and parking areas.

US 69 Rehab Existing Road and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (R-Cut)

  • Limits: Cumberland Road to .45 miles north of FM 346
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, INC
  • Cost: $5.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The contractor is scheduled to widen the roadway and perform concrete work. Lane closures are expected. This project consists of rehabilitating existing roadway and installing a restricted crossing U-turn (R-Cut) at FM 2813 intersection.

SH 31 Safety Improvement

  • Limits: SH 31 (Smith Co) limits from the Neches River bridge to 0.051 miles west of Toll 49
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $3.85 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The project consists of safety improvements consisting of the installation of a median cable barrier. No work is scheduled this week.

SL 323 Overlay on Existing Roadway

  • Limits: .3 mi N of SH31, Elm St in W Tyler, N to .25 mi E of US69
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, INC
  • Cost: $4.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

Major items of work have been completed. The contractor is scheduled to perform striping and check final punch list items. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of overlaying existing roadway with new asphalt.

I-20 Frontage Road at SH 155

  • Limits: Westbound off ramp at SH 155 from intersection to 600 ft toward I-20
  • Contractor: FNH Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $600,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

Major items of work have been completed. The contractor has no work scheduled. No lane closures expected. Project consists of resurfacing the roadway, pavement markings, signage, and illumination.

Legacy Trails Extension

  • Limits: Stewart Park to Peete Elementary
  • Contractor: THK Construction LLC.
  • Cost: $3.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

Major items of work have been completed. The contractor is scheduled to work on punch list items. No lane closures are expected. This project consists of a hike and bike trail development that includes construction of a 12-foot wide shared-use paths.

FM 2493 Widen Non-Freeway

  • Limits: FM 346 in Flint, south to 0.3 miles south of FM 344
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD
  • Cost: $52 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

This project consists of widening the existing non-freeway roadway. Utility relocations are in progress, expect delays.

County Bridge Replacements

  • Limits: CR 35 bridge at Hitts Creek Trib., CR 336 at Wiggins Creek, CR 411 at Prairie Creek Trib., CR 471 at Prairie Creek, CR 452 at Mill Creek, CR 411 at Caney Creek.
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $6.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

This project consists of replacing existing bridge facilities and approaches. Construction is on-going at CR 452 over Mill Creek. The bridge will be closed for the duration of construction.

SH 110 Preventative Maintenance

  • Limits: SH 64 to Aberdeen Dr.
  • Contractor: FNH Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $3.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

Major items of work have been completed. The project consists of preventative maintenance including planning, overlay, and pavement markings.

SH 110 Traffic Signals

  • Limits: Loop 49 Exit
  • Contractor: L.S. Equipment Co. Inc.
  • Cost: $778,082
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

Major items of work have been completed. This project consists of adding traffic signals to SH 110 and Loop 49 ramps and overlay operations.

I-20 Mill and Inlay at SH 135

  • Limits: US 69 to SH 135 east bound lanes
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company
  • Cost: $13 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

The contractor is scheduled to perform permanent striping and punch list items. Lane closures are anticipated. Project consists of an overlay with a new surface, asphalt concrete pavement, planing, shoulder texturing, and pavement markings.

FM 16 Widening and Realignment

  • Limits: 4 mi west of FM 849 east to US 69 in Lindale
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $44.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2025

The project consists of grading, asphalt base, asphalt surface overlay paving, storm drain, bridge, and culvert structures, signing, pavement markings, and signals. A major traffic shift is currently in place through town. Traffic will be two lanes during this phase of construction. Crews will also be working west of Lindale High School, hauling in embankment materials. They will also work on tying in the proposed roadway into the newly constructed bridge. Crews will also remove the existing roadway and installing the new cross culverts for the drainage system. Motorists are urged to drive with caution and expect delays.

I-20 Mill and Inlay

  • Limits: Van Zandt County Line to SH 110
  • Contractor: Texas Materials Group, INC.
  • Cost: $6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2024

The contractor has no work scheduled this week. Project consists of an overlay with new surface, planing, shoulder texturing, and pavement markings.

Van Zandt County

Crews are scheduled to overlay existing asphalt on FM 16 between Van and I-20. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:

FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 Bridge Replacement

  • Limits: Bridge at FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 over I-20
  • Contractor: Indus Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $14.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2026

This project is for the construction of a new bridge and approaches, grading, base and surface, and metal beam guard fence installation. The project will begin with the replacement of FM 859 & FM 47 bridges the last week of November. Motorists should expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 main lanes. Motorists should also expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 frontage roads. The bridge at FM 859 is open. FM 859 north of I-20 now has access to the bridge. FM 859 south of I-20 is closed and detours are in place. Motorists should pay attention and travel with caution in the area.

FM 1255 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: I-20 to SH 110
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD.
  • Cost: $17.1 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2025

This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, rework base material, cement treatment, flex base, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and pavement markings. The project will be completed under traffic. Subgrade rehabilitation will be completed in one-mile segments. Crews are scheduled to remove trees and install mailboxes during the winter months. Lane closures and speed zone reductions are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

I-20 WB Exit Ramp at SH 19

  • Limits: From WB exit ramp to SH 19
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $1.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: March 2025

This project consists of ramp improvements. Crews have initiated construction on the drainage structures and frontage road alignment. Crews continue to haul in large amounts of dirt. Lane closures and traffic shifts are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

FM 1651 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway-Tony

  • Limits: From SH 198 east to SH 19
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

Construction is on-going for cross structures, driveways, and right-of-way clearing. This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, base work, cement treatment, flex base, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and striping. This week, crews are scheduled to repair asphalt on US 69 from SH 37 to the Smith County line. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Crews are also scheduled to repair asphalt on Loop 564 and US 80. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Also, crews will repair asphalt on SH 154 from FM 515 to the Hopkins County line. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Wood County construction projects updates:

US 69 Hot mix Overlay

  • Limits: Rains County line to CR 2370
  • Contractor: True Roads Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $6.35 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: March 2025

This project consists of milling, level-up, surface repair, structures, signs, and pavement markings. Hot mix pavement operations are now underway. Crews will be working in the ditches, laying hot mix, and installing permanent striping. Lane closures are expected, and work zone speed reductions are in place. Motorists should expect delays.

US 69 Grade-Separated Interchange

  • Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
  • Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
  • Cost: $37.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of grading, base, asphalt, drainage, structures, overpass, signing, and striping. Construction of the cross structures, drainage, and embankment is underway. Lane closures are expected, and work zone speed reductions are in place. Motorists should expect delays.
