The Director of Monaco's Seized or Confiscated Assets Management Department, Richard Dubant, and the Police Commissioner, Eric Arella, signed a cooperation agreement on 11 December 2024.

This partnership will contribute to the implementation of the Principality's international commitments and domestic legal provisions on tackling money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The purpose of the agreement is to set out the procedures for collaboration between the two departments in terms of managing assets seized or confiscated in Monaco or abroad. This includes preparing decisions to seize criminal assets, executing court decisions to seize or confiscate assets, and organising information or training initiatives to promote best practices for carrying out seizures and confiscations in criminal cases.

In operational terms, this cooperation framework is also designed to help with drawing up inventories of assets that may be subject to seizure at the beginning of criminal investigations and considering how the assets may be retained.
