Looking to impress your friends with your impressive microwave skills? Here's a list of easy Thanksgiving recipes guaranteed to elevate you to the rank of "decent chef." Patience and a good podcast are required to keep you company during your culinary adventure. Microwave Mac and Cheese

Homemade mac and cheese… in the microwave? Yes, please! Skip the hassle of a baked recipe and wow your friends with this easy, crowd-pleasing dish:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup dry macaroni pasta
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (see notes)
  • ¼ cup milk of choice
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional
  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese (optional)

Asian Cucumber Salad

The recipe that took the internet by storm late this summer, it's the spicy asian cucumber salad. It's quick, healthy, and of course, a fan favorite.

Ingredients:

  • 6 mini cucumbers or Persian cucumbers
  • 2 teaspoon salt to drain water
  • 1 tablespoon regular soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoon green onion finely sliced

Healthy Apple Crisp

An apple crisp is a must for fall! And it's healthy? Sounds like a dream.

Base Ingredients:

  • 4 medium tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

TOPPING:

  • 2/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Ingredients:

  • 12 red cinnamon candies (optional)
  • 2 small cubes of sharp cheddar (optional)
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon for dusting

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar

Kale Salad with Cranberries

You can never go wrong with a salad, especially when the holiday season provides you with many delicious temptations. Lucky for you, salad is as easy to assemble as can be and is the perfect complement to any main course:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped shallot
  • 1½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 7 cups stemmed and torn mixed kale, such as lacinato, curly and/or red
  • ½ cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
