New Permanent Representative of Armenia presents credentials

VIENNA, 13 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations (Vienna), Andranik Hovhannisyan, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Hovhannisyan, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Vice President of the United Nations Human Rights Council (2022); Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva (2019-2014); Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014-2019); Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy in Washington, United States (2012-2014); Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2012); First Secretary, Council of Europe Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2010); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Armenia to the OSCE, Vienna, Austria (2006-2009); Third Secretary, Arms Control and International Security Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2006); Attaché, Embassy in Damascus, Syria (2000-2004); and Attaché, Information and Public Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2000).

Mr. Hovhannisyan holds a Ph.D. in history from the Yerevan State University. He also studied at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston, United States and at the University of Cairo in Egypt.

He speaks Arabic, Armenian, English and Russian.
