Heard Libraries add ‘The Atlantic’ to list of free online subscriptions available to campus community

The Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries are now offering online subscriptions to The Atlantic magazine free of charge for Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff. Published since 1857, The Atlantic features articles on politics, foreign affairs, business and the economy, culture and the arts, technology, and science.

An Atlantic subscription through the Heard Libraries includes unlimited reading on any device, including the magazine's archives dating back to 1857; narrated articles and podcasts; and email newsletters. The Atlantic app is available for iOS and Android, and subscribers can share gift articles with other readers.

To gain access:

  • Visit theatlantic.com or download the app for iOS or Android.
  • Select "Sign In" at the top-right corner of the homepage, or tap the settings button at the top right of your smart device's home screen and select "Sign In."
  • Scroll down to "Sign in through your institution."
  • Select Vanderbilt University from the dropdown list.
  • Sign in with your VUnetID.

The Atlantic joins other online news sources provided free to the Vanderbilt community courtesy of the Heard Libraries and supports the libraries' commitment to making accessible the world's information to enhance knowledge, foster innovation and promote discovery. Other available publications include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Bloomberg.com, which are all part of the News Desk feature found midway down on the Heard Libraries homepage.
