Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3901 West Fuqua Street

December 12, 2024- Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3901 West Fuqua Street about 10:35 a.m. today.

The identity of the deceased male, 2, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer R. Saenz reported:

A female was pushing a stroller, with her 2-year-old grandson inside - in the crosswalk at the above address - when the two were struck by a silver Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck turning left onto Fuqua Street from a stop sign on Bathurst Drive.

Paramedics transported the toddler and the woman to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. Doctors pronounced the child deceased. The female, 64, sustained minor injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The male driver, 25, of the Chevrolet remained at the scene. He did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver failed to yield the right of way to pedestrian(s) in a crosswalk.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
