SAN FRANCISCO- A new temporary exhibit titled "How We Love Our Parks: Volunteer Photographers of Golden Gate National Recreation Area" at Fort Point National Historic Site showcases the park's Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) photographers. The exhibit will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and running until May 2025, when the next exhibit is installed.
There are so many ways to love our parks: hiking, birdwatching, biking, spending time with family, sharing knowledge with others, helping to protect and preserve our beautiful parks. No one knows more about the beauty of these parks like our Volunteers-In-Parks Photographers. These talented individuals each have unique insight into the landscapes, history, people, stories, and experiences here at Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
"This exhibit showcases just a few of over 100,000 images taken by our VIP Photographers as they documented events, educational programs, and magical moments. Their years of experience in these parks created a collection of striking images that embody the majesty of nature and history in our community. We are proud to share these images with you and hope you are inspired to love our parks even more!" said Tory Starling, Visual Information Specialist who manages the VIP Photographer program.
The exhibit highlights the work of Alison Taggart Barone, Ted Barone, Will Elder, Dan Friedman, Doc Miles, Frank X. Morse, Dave Rauenbuehler, and Kirke Wrench and will be on display at Fort Point during the park's open hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
