Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - 1000 Block of East Pacific Coast Highway - On Nov. 23, 2024 at approximately 12:59 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. The shooting was determined to have occurred near the 1000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. The victim refused to cooperate with the investigation; therefore, suspect information and the motive for the shooting are unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing - 3400 Block of East 4th Street - On Nov. 22, 2024 at approximately 7:49 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of East 4th Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a male adult suspect were in a verbal altercation which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Murder - 900 Block of Gaviota Avenue - On Nov. 22, 2024, at approximately 11:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hit shooting in the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue, resulting in the death of a female adult. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Homicide detectives are investigating this incident and a news release detailing the murder is forthcoming.
