An Owego man has been charged with numerous felonies after members of the New York State Police discovered he was illegally manufacturing ghost guns.
While investigating another matter, Troopers observed illegal weapons in a residence on Lisle Road in Owego.
On December 10, 2024, New York State Police at Owego arrested John M. Standish, age 52 of Owego, NY for the class "C" felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, two counts of the "D" felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, the class "D" felony of Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon in the third degree, the class "E" felony of Criminal Possession of a Firearm and the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree.
Investigators discovered that J. Standish was manufacturing ghost guns and was in possession of firearms that are not NY SAFE ACT complaint, high-capacity magazines and silencers. The investigation further determined that Standish does not possess a pistol permit and cannot lawfully possess a firearm. Investigators learned that Standish was using 3D printers to illegally make parts for the ghost guns.
J. Standish was arraigned Friday at the Owego County Correctional Facility Centralized Arraignment.
